A Cure

I just read a line in a book that I could completely relate to, it read:
"A new kind of freedom. But then...what? What would my life be like on a daily basis? Most of it has been consumed with the acquisition of food (in my case Cystic Fibrosis). Take that away and I'm not really sure who I am, what my identity is."

-The Hunger Games

For anyone that knows me really well, the word cure was never part of my vocabulary. I remember at times going to the CF doctor as a kid and them saying, "10 years, in 10 years we'll have a cure.". It was strange. Mostly strange in the fact that I didn't eat it up. In reality I didn't believe them and when I would think about not having Cystic Fibrosis anymore it scared me. I remember whenever I would tell people that they thought I was nuts. How could I not want a cure?

Ive never felt like CF defines me, but it has definitely molded and shaped me into who I am. I'm grateful for it. I feel I'm a better person for having it, not better than anyone else, it's jut helped me to be the best version of myself. The thought of losing that made me feel like I would lose, well, me. Over the years as I have had to deal with the really ugly side of CF my views have changed some. I don't think I ever actually prayed for a cure until I had my daughter and felt my life literally slipping away from me. I have never wanted anything so bad. Before, I was young and naive and had not seen or experienced whatCystic Fibrosis does, how it plays out. Now having experienced it first hand and luckily coming most of the way back, the thoughts of a cure is something I cling to, I have hope. With the new drug that just came out I feel there is hope just over the horizon and I pray that it comes sooner rather than later. I'll figure out who I am without all the treatments and hospital stays, I have a feeling it won't be too difficult.

Day 8

A Song That Fits Your Mood:

I actually have 2 that have been running through my brain.

If I Aint Got You by Alicia Keys and Blessed by Martina McBride. I feel like Blessed is my theme song for my life. Here are the lyrics for both.

If I Ain't Got You
Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game
Some people think that the physical things
Define what's within
And I've been there before
But that life's a bore
So full of the superficial

[Chorus:]
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, Yeah

Some people search for a fountain
That promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that's the only way to prove you love them
Hand me the world on a silver platter
And what good would it be
With no one to share
With no one who truly cares for me

[Chorus:]
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, you, you
Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you, yeah

[Outro:]
If I ain't got you with me baby
So nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing
If I ain't got you with me baby

Blessed
I get kissed by the sun
Each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughing
Down the hall through the
Bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my
Front porch swing
Just soaking up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place

[Chorus]
I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones
That love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

Across a crowded room
I know you know what I'm thinking
By the way I look at you
And when we're lying in the quiet
And no words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful gift

[Chorus]

When I'm singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
I know

[Chorus]

Day 7

My Dream Wedding-
I wish I had pics of my wedding on my iPad. It was completely perfect to me. I wouldn't change a thing. It was elegant and simple, just the way I like things. In reality, and not to come off cheesy, these are the only two things I needed for perfection...and I got them both. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

The Manti Temple where we were married.

Day 6

Day 6-
A picture of an animal I'd like for a pet:

Remember when you were young and you played the game MASH? Or was I the only one? Well when it asked what pet you wanted I always included a monkey. How cool would that be? In reality I fantasize about a cute little puggle or shiatsu puppy, but then I come back to reality and think of all the cons of having a pet and I'm totally content without an addition added to the Pehrson home. Plus I figure I already have 2 crazy monkeys, a 3rd would just add chaos.

Liebster Blog Award and Day 5

Day 5- talk about your pets

Well since I don't have any pets I'll talk about a blog award I received from one of my Cysters.
As I read a comment from my friend Jenny at adamandjennylivingston.blogspot.com I found that she had chose me for the Liebster Blog Award. It makes my heart happy that some people find this blog worthwhile. Thanks for the award Jenny, and your kind words!

Liebster is a German word that literally translates to "favorite", "dearest" or "beloved". By one blogger giving it to another, they are essentially saying, your blog is a favorite of mine.

The rules of the Liebster Blog Award are:
1) Acknowledge the blogger who gave the award by linking back to them
2) Give this award to 5 other bloggers (who have fewer than 200 readers), and let them know through a comment on their blog
3) Post the award on your blog
4) Best of all - bask in the glory, have fun and share the love!

So in following the rules here are some blogs that I find inspiring and people that I find admirable (not sure how many readers they have:) so hopefully it's within the rules).

Sharlies Angels-
www.sharliesangels.blogspot.com
Sharlie is truly one of the most inspiring people I have had the privilege of getting to know. Sharlie is currently listed to receive a heart and lung transplant. Her attitude and determination are incredible! I'm in awe at her love for all and the grace and dignity in which she handles her trials.

My Bipolar Coaster-
www.mybpcoaster.blogspot.com Leesa is one of my cousins best friends. I love reading her blog and the openness she shares about her struggles with bipolar. Too often there is a stigma attached to mental illness. I think by sharing her struggles and triumphs she is changing the face of what people assume mental illness to look like. Im amazed at her courage, I'm sure it isn't easy sharing in her journey, but I'm happy to know her and to learn more.

You'll Find That Life Is Still Worth While If You Just Smile-
www.whitneyhomer.blogspot.com
Choosing this blog is a bit out of the ordinary since I don't actually know this person and have never actually commented on her blog. I learned about her blog from a friend and ever since I read it I have thought of her often. She is a young beautiful woman that has had to face and continues to face many challenges. I admire her for her courageous attitude and ability to find good in the small and simple things that we all take for granted. After only reading a few posts my heart was heavy and I pray that things can turn around for her.

My Life Chasing Butterflies-
www.mylifechasingbutterflies.blogspot.com. This blog belongs to my friend Tammy. I have been friends with her since 6th grade but hadn't had much contact with her until we reconnected a few years ago. As we reminisced we learned of each others trials and triumphs. I learned of the challenges that she has faced with her children. Her strength astonishes me! I truly admire her and the attitude that she has. She is an incredible mother and truly one of my heroes!

Ro Ro Island-
http://roroisland2.blogspot.com/
Roshelle was a dear friend that past away 3.5 years ago. We never met, but became very close friends. It was my privilege to know her. She always had an amazing attitude and I learned to appreciate all that I am able to due despite my illness. I'm grateful for her friendship and feel as though I have another guardian angel on my side. Although her blog hasn't been updated since her passing her legacy lives on through the writings she left behind.

There are so many blogs I love, but here are the few I've chosen. I hope you are as inspired by there writings as I have been.

Day 4

I'm terrible at this, but in my defense I have not felt great for a couple weeks and am actually updating from the hospital. I will try to do better while I'm here.

Day 4 says a pic of your best friend. Well here are a few pics of my most favorite people!

I am truly so blessed to have this most amazing man by my side. I know he would truly do anything for me and I trust him with all that I am. These past couple weeks have been a bit of a rough go with my health and lack of energy. There were days I sometimes wondered am I really this lazy? I even asked Ben why he still loves me when it's rare that I get out of my Jammies. He just laughed and said he didn't love me for my looks, in a way thy only Ben can say.

I adore my babies and as Cambree is getting older these hospital stays bring up more questions and a bit more heartache. As I lay by her putting her to bed last night these were her thoughts. Fighting back tears she said, Mom, I don't want you to go in the hospital.".
"I know babe, I don't want to go.".
"You jut barely went why do you have to go again?".
I proceed to explain all the reasons I have to go back, her response:
Through the tears, "It's not fair."
And indeed I began to choke back tears and agree with the unfairness of it all, reminding her of previous conversations we've had at having to do hard thing. We prayed together and then whipped out a mean game of hungry hungry hippo! I love my girl more than she could ever know and my heart breaks when I see the pain that my illness has on her. She is amazing and will rise above it!

Lawson was a bit clingy this morning which always makes it a bit harder to leave and know that he very well could be running by the time I get home. He's taken 4 steps thus far. He is a crazy boy and I love that I get to be home with him daily. FaceTime is going to save us all! I'm so greatful for these besties in my life. It doesn't get any better!
